I’m a big reader. I read for pleasure and to learn– not that those are mutually exclusive! I read at least 150 books annually, so if it doesn’t hold my attention, I dump it. I am currently reading all of these (One of my superpowers! I read really fast, y’all– former educator here– and, FYI: I can read whatever is on your desk facing you, upside down π) I wanted to share my current list, and see if anyone had any recommendations. I also wanted to give a shout out to some of these authors, who I learned about on LinkedIn:
Focused by Megan Flatt β Reclaim your time, ditch overwhelm and do less better! Recommended to me by Leah Neaderthal
Traction by Gino Wickman β Get a grip on your business (using the EOS, or Entrepreneurial Operating System– which is just brilliant)!
Recommended to me by Danielle Fuller, HR Director for Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS)
The Brain Friendly Workplace by Friederike Fabrititus β Why talented people quit and how to get them to stay.
Read an article about her; researched her, found her book; neurodiversity may be the next certification I delve into.
Just Work by Kim Scott β How to root out bias, prejudice and bullying to build a kick-ass culture of inclusivity.
Recommended by several folks!
Captivate by Vanessa Van Edwards β The science of succeeding with people.
I get her newsletter, and decided to read her book, too. She’s so fun to read!
Hack Your Bureaucracy by Marina Nitze and Nick Sinai β Get things done no matter what your role on any team.
I read this AFTER a particularly frustrating experience with a client; I’m feeling more empowered, now.
The Joy of True Meditation by Jeff Foster β Words of encouragement for tired minds and wild hearts.
Recommended by a dear friend.
My Dear Henry by Kalynn Baronn β A Jekyll and Hyde remix.
This is part of the Remixed Classics Series of βclassicβ white literature rewritten by POC; theyβre all fascinating and SO good.
It’s fascinating to me that when I look at this list, I think it shows who I am and where my passions lie pretty clearly.
What are you reading and why? I’d love to hear your suggestions and/or your experience with any of the books on my list.
